Centenary Swimmers Continue Impressive Showing

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Centenary men’s and women’s swimming team had another good day at The Summit League Championships on Friday. The Gents are in second with 393 points and the Ladies are in fourth and just 28 points behind South Dakota State for third.


The Gents got things started off on the right foot, as the 200 Yard IM relay team of sophomores Jon Cefalu and Wladimir Montoya, along with junior Bryan Myers and senior Dustin Myers broke the school record with a time of 1:24.49.


Montoya (50.09) also broke the school record in the 100 Yard Butterfly, while Cefalu (59.43) also set the Centenary during the 100 Yard Breaststroke.


Two of the Ladies relay teams also broke school marks, as freshman Natalie Holcomb, junior Leslie Clampitt, senior Melanie Zimmerman and sophomore Natalie Nazzal finished the 200 Yard IM in 1:38.94.


The 400 Yard Medley Relay team of freshman Lauren Kloepher, sophomore Leslie Wyatt, Jessica Brown and Clampitt completed their event in 4:00.43. Clampitt (24.33) also broke the school in 50 Yard Freestyle, while Wyatt (1:08.50) also broke the school record in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.


The championships conclude tomorrow with preliminaries starting at 11:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m.
