LSWA Rewards Centenary's Thacker with Honor
Tuesday, March 4, 2008

BATON ROUGE, La.—Centenary softball player Ryan Thacker was recognized again on Tuesday for her outstanding performance last week. The sophomore was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s (LSWA) Pitcher of the Week one day after being honored with the same distinction by The Summit League.

Thacker was given the accolade after tossing 12 scoreless innings in a pair of one-hit efforts last week. She earned a win over Grambling and Louisiana Tech each, and shutout the Lady Techsters for the second time in seven days. She has won her last four decisions and has allowed only two runs in her last 19 innings pitched.

Thacker was voted the award by members of the LSWA and picked from candidates submitted by sports information directors from all four-year institutions in the state of Louisiana. This week specifically, she took home the honors over candidates from Nicholls State, UL-Lafayette, Southern, Louisiana Tech, and Southeastern Louisiana.
