Stewart to Play with Gents Soccer in 2008

SHREVEPORT – The Centenary men’s soccer team and head coach David Orr have announced that goalkeeper Jude Stewart of Catholic High School Baton Rouge will be apart of the team in 2008. Stewart will join Ben Barcelona and Seth Prochaska, who signed earlier in the spring.

 

Stewart had an outstanding season in 2007, as he started 13 games, recorded 61 saves and averaged 4.7 saves per game. The Baton Rouge, native also allowed just 13 goals in 2007 and gave up just an average of .92 goals per match.

 

As a starter, Stewart went undefeated in District 5A and was named first team all-district. He also helped lead his team to a district championship in 2007 and also received three letters in soccer.

 

Off the field he is a member of the Latin Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Stewart also tutors underprivileged children, a sitter for special needs kids and is a kid’s camp counselor.

 

“We are excited to have this young man who has good character join the Gents soccer team for the fall,” said Orr. “Stewart will be in a position to win the goalkeeping job this fall.”
