Ladies and Gents Fairing Well at Conference Meet

MACOMB, Ill. – Led by Chloe Mims’ (77) five over par, the Centenary women’s golf team is in a tie for second with South Dakota State. Greg Berthelot (75) tops the Gents scoring leaders with a three over, which puts Centenary in ninth place after Sunday’s first round at The Summit League Championships.


The Ladies are 23 strokes behind first place Oral Roberts, who shot a first-round 302. The Gents, meanwhile, are 24 strokes in back of North Dakota State, who had a great first 18 holes with a 285.


For the Ladies, Tracy Williams (79) also had a nice first day, as she is in a tie for 10th place, while Jessica Garza (84) is tied for 22nd. Not far behind Garza is Leigh Newton, who is tied for 27th after closing out Sunday with an 85. The final golfer for Centenary is Bethany Cox (89), who finished the afternoon in a tie for 41st.


Behind Berthelot’s round-one score of 75 is Nick Faitz (77), who is tied for 31st place after shooting five over par on the afternoon. Mark Weeber (77) also had a good first day, as he was also just five over.   


Rounding out the scores for the Gents are Ryan Sparks (80) and Tyler Williams (83), who were eight and 11 over par on Sunday. Sparks is in a tie for 45th place, while Williams is alone in 49th.


The Summit League Championship will continue on Monday at 9 a.m. on the Harry Mussatto Golf Course.
