Ladies and Gents Struggle in Second Round

MACOMB, Ill. – The Centenary men’s and women’s golf teams had a tough day on Monday at The Summit League Championship. The Gents are led by Greg Berthelot (75-77, 152), while Tracy Williams (79-84, 163) was the top day-two finisher for the Ladies.

 

The Ladies (325-351, 676), who were in a tie for second after Sunday’s first round, fell to sixth after shooting a round-two score of 351. Centenary is 62 strokes behind first place Oral Roberts, who shot a 312 on Monday afternoon.  

 

On the men’s side, Centenary (309-317, 626) put six strokes on its total score, as it shot a second-round score of 317. The Gents are 37 strokes in back of UMKC, who tops the team scores with a 587.

 

Chloe Mims (77-87, 164) fell to 12th place in day-two, but is just one stroke from moving back into the top 10. Jessica Garza (84-84) is in 17th place and five strokes from going into the top 10, after she closed Monday’s round with a 168.

 

Rounding out Centenary’s five scores is Leigh Newton (85-97, 182) and Bethany Cox (89-96, 185), who are in 42nd and 46th place respectively. Newton is 38 over par after two-rounds, while Cox is shooting 41 over par.

 

For the Gents, Mark Weeber (77-78) is tied for 29th place and 11 over par after completing round-two action with a 155. Nick Faitz (77-79, 156) sits just one stroke behind Weeber, as Faitz is sitting in 35th place.

 

Closing out the Gents contingence is Ryan Sparks (80-85) and Tyler Williams (83-83), who are in 46th and 48th place. Sparks is just a stroke in front Williams, who finished the second-day with a 166.

 

The final round of the conference tournament will take place on Tuesday starting at 9 a.m.
