ELMHURST, Ill.—The Summit League office has announced that Centenary’s Bonnie Matak has been named the conference’s Player of the Week for softball. It is the first such honor for the freshman in her young career and is the second time this season a Ladies player has received the award (Lauren Flowers).

Matak, an outfielder from Richmond, Texas, batted .500 (8-for-16) last week with six runs and three RBI to lead Centenary to a 3-1 record. She had 10 total bases, which included her first triple of the season, slugged .625 and had an on-base percentage of .579.

The newcomer had a hit in all four games and scored at least one run in all four contests as well. She had multi-hit games in three of the four contests and went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks in the other game. She also stole two bases and is a perfect 14-for-14 on the season.

Matak leads Centenary in runs scored (41), homeruns (7), and stolen bases.
