Shepperd Named to All-Louisiana Team

NEW ORLEANS, La.—The Louisiana Sports Writers Association announced its softball All-Louisiana teams over the weekend and Centenary third baseman Allison Shepperd was named to the second team. NCAA World Series participant Louisiana-Lafayette took home four of the five top individual awards in the voting.


Shepperd, from Marshall, Texas, finished her sophomore season on fire while helping the Ladies softball team to the top seed in The Summit League Tournament. She ended the season with an 11-game hit streak and broke Centenary softball records for most doubles (18), hits (65), and RBI (43) in a season.


Shepperd also was named first team All-Summit League and was selected to The Summit League All-Tournament Team. She hit .365 for the year and placed in the top five of eight different conference offensive categories.


Louisiana-Lafayette’s Holly Tankersley was honored as the Hitter of the Year, Ashley Brignac was tabbed the Pitcher of the Year, pitcher Donna Bourgeois was the Freshman of the Year, and Stefani Lotief was recognized as the Coach of the Year. Nicholls State’s Lacey Gros was voted the Newcomer of the Year.
