Gents Take 6th at Troy Invitational

CRESTVIEW, Fla.—The Centenary men’s golf team completed its three-day invitational hosted by Troy University, finishing in sixth place overall out of nine participating teams.

The Gents weren’t able to cut strokes off their first and second rounds, but managed to play consistent golf over three rounds shooting a total score of 968 (318-320-330), just 76 strokes behind Mississippi State, who took first place with a score of 892 (296-286-310).

Leading Centenary was freshman Denver Green (81-74-78), who tied for 10th after shooting a 233, 17 strokes over par. The Bossier City native concluded the tournament only 12 strokes behind leader Noah Goldman’s 221 (73-74-74) of Mississippi State.

Mark Weeber posted a 241 (77-77-87), finishing tied for 26th.  Following was teammate Greg Berthelot in 39th with a score of 249 (83-81-85). Rounding out Centenary was John Hogan (77-89-85), who tied for 41st and Tyler Williams (95-88-82) finishing in 49th place.

In second place overall behind Mississippi State was Troy (307-303-315-925), while Nebraska (311-305-319-935) took third.

The Gents will be back in action on April 5th at Stonebridge Country Club in Bossier City, as they participate in the Donnie Wilhite Centenary College Am.
