Ladies Drop a Heartbreaker
Friday, March 6, 2009

SHREVEPORT – The Centenary softball team was handcuffed by Albany on Friday morning in the first game of the Georgia Tech Buzz Classic, as the Ladies fell to the Great Danes 3-0.

Centenary could only muster up three hits, with sophomore Caitlin Cavarra, junior Allison Shepperd and freshman Katie Matthews collecting hits. Shepperd’s hit came in the seventh as a lead-off double, but the Ladies couldn’t start a rally.

Pitching for Centenary was sophomore Jessica Bock, who threw seven innings, allowed three runs on eight hits, walked two and struck a pair. Her counterpart, Leah McIntosh fanned 10 Ladies’ batters and didn’t walk anybody.

Centenary will play its second game of the Buzz Classic on Friday night at 6 p.m. against Kennesaw State. Live stats are available at http://ramblinwreck.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/spec-rel/09-buzz-classic.html
