Another Strong Showing for the Ladies Soccer Team

SHREVEPORT—After a second place finish in the annual 7v7 tournament hosted by ULM, Centenary Ladies soccer plays in their annual indoor tournament and advances to the semifinals.

The Ladies opened the day up with a win over the Centenary Alumni team. They then went on to defeat the ULM Warhawks 5-1. Freshman Eren Corapcioglu added two timely goals to help the ladies secure the victory.

After winning their bracket, the Ladies drew a tough UALR team in the semifinals. Sophomore Candace Rushing put the Ladies on top 1-0, but UALR was able to equalize with under a minute to play in the first half. The second half would prove to be an evenly fought battle with both keepers playing extremely well. However, UALR was able to take the lead with 1:10 left in the game and the Ladies were unable to equalize. UALR did go on to win the tournament after defeating La Tech 3-0 in the finals.

Head coach Chase Wooten said, “The girls played extremely well in all three games, we just fell a little short in the last game. It’s disappointing not to win, but I am proud of the way they played the entire day.”

The Ladies will return to Mayo Field at the end of the month as they face La Tech in a full sided match.
