Wednesday, July 23, 2008

SHREVEPORT--Centenary softball coach Mark Montgomery released his fall tournament schedule on Wednesday. The Ladies will compete in three local tournaments, including one at Centenary, over three consecutive weekends in late September and early October.

The Ladies will get their first look at their 2008-09 roster in action on September 20th in the Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) Tournament. Centenary will take on BPCC in a seven inning game beginning at 8 a.m., before completing the doubleheader by facing Northwestern State at 10:05 a.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 27th, the Ladies will be back at BPCC’s second fall tournament in as many weeks. Centenary will get the event started with an 8 a.m. game against Louisiana Tech, but won’t play again for several hours. At 4:05 p.m., the Maroon and White will take the field against Louisiana-Monroe and will finish the tournament with a 6:25 p.m. contest with Southern Arkansas.

October 4th will be the final weekend of play for the Ladies in the fall season as they host their own invitational. Centenary battles BPCC at 9:30 a.m. in the first game of a triple header. The second game starts at 5:30 p.m. and pits the Ladies against LSU-Alexandria. The third scrimmage of the day features Centenary and Louisiana Tech at 7:30 p.m.

“The fall games are always important for us,” said Head Coach Mark Montgomery. “It’s our first chance to evaluate our new players against college level competition and it allows us to see what kind of chemistry we have on the field.”
