SHREVEPORT – Denver Green (Bossier City, La.) and Jessica Marquart (Huntsville, Texas) have signed a financial aide agreement to play golf for Centenary during the 2008-09 season.

Green graduated from Parkway High School and was a runner-up at the boys Arrowhead Golf Event in May. He shot a first-round 74 and fired a day-two score of 69 to finish just a stroke behind the winner, Matt Decell of Baton Rouge.

He was also part of four state championship teams at Parkway, and he also won the 2006 Shreveport City Junior Am.

Denver is a quality golfer and I’m excited that he chose Centenary to continue his education,” said head coach Martin Stuart. “For the next few seasons we are going to have a pretty good team.”

Marquart transfers from Nicholls State and will have two years of eligibility remaining. As a freshman she played in all 26 rounds for the Lady Colonels, and she finished her first season with an 82.46 stroke average. Marquart’s best outing came in her first collegiate tournament at Centenary Fall Classic, where she posted a top 10 finish after shooting a 155.

As a sophomore, Marquart played in 12 rounds and had an average of 87.5. Her best outing of the season came at the Chris Banister Classic, where she finished in 42nd place and she also finished in the top 50 three times.

“I’m excited about the addition of Jessica,” said head coach Mary Lynn Stuart. “She will add a lot of experience to our team. She has a lot of talent and I am hoping for big things from her this fall.”
