Preseason is under way! I know that all the players and coaches are excited to get started. A new season brings new goals and aspirations, and this brings new energy and enthusiasm into the training sessions. The Gents will carry a larger roster this year than in years past with 33 players reporting to training camp. Competition in training and practices is high, and a lot of position battles are beginning to take shape. The position battles of great interest are the midfield and forward positions. Depth at midfield will be a luxury this upcoming season.

Centenary welcomes a new, but familiar, face to its coaching staff, Nathan McAbee. Coach McAbee was a member of the 1999-2002 Centenary Gent’s squad, which set many milestones for the soccer program, including national top 20 rankings for most improved men’s soccer program in 2001 & 2002.

The Gents will face their first test of the year as they play host to Harding University for a preseason exhibition match on Saturday, August 23rd, at noon on Mayo Soccer Field. Food will be served at the field and we expect a good crowd for our first home game.

Go Gents!
