Gents Finish Preseason With a Win
Monday, August 25, 2008

TYLER, Texas – With two minutes left in double overtime the Centenary men’s soccer team defeated UT-Tyler, 1-0, on Monday night in the final exhibition game of summer for the Gents.

Centenary sophomore Josh Gomillion nailed the game-winning goal from 18-yards out after receiving the ball from freshman Aaron Bergman. For Bergman it was a bit of redemption, as he missed a penalty kick midway through second half.

Offensively, Centenary finished the match with 10 shots, while its stout defense allowed UT-Tyler just two shots. However, none of Patriots shots landed on goal, while the Gents had six of their 10 shots hit the goalie.

The next action for Centenary will be on Friday, Sept. 5, against Drake in the Missouri State Tournament in Springfield, Mo.
