“Rain, rain...go away!” The preseason has been marred by wet field conditions and alternating practice sites from indoors to outdoors. These challenges have been met with great attitudes amongst the players. The team is beginning to develop its personality and we can start to see what direction we can take this program. There is a great foundation to begin with and I know that this season will allow us to build upon it with experience and improvements in our style of play. The Gents have a long way to go to gain a conference championship, but they will be moving towards that goal with every training session and game this season through their character and attention to detail.

The Gents finished their preseason game schedule with two wins; one at home versus Harding University (4-1 win) and one on the road versus University of Texas at Tyler (1-0 win). Both preseason games were executed as dress rehearsals for the regular season. The Gents staff feels confident that our team play was acceptable within the areas of executing in the final third of the field and fitness as the main focus as we prepare for the regular season.

The Gents soccer team wishes to give a big thanks to all those who came out to support the team, both at home and on the road. Your support is exceptional and lifted your Gents up during the game. Your support is definitely a large part of our success this preseason. Thank you!

After evaluating the preseason performances of the team and individual players, the soccer staff and I are working diligently to prepare our Gents for success. The first match of the season is Friday, September 5th in Springfield, Missouri, at the Missouri State University Soccer tournament versus Drake University.
