Ladies Come Up Empty Against UWGB and Ball State

HUNTSVILLE, Texas—The Centenary volleyball team concluded its participation in the Comfort Suites Sam Houston State Invitational on Saturday with a pair of losses to Wisconsin-Green Bay and Ball State. The Ladies fell to UWGB 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-10) and lost its match with Ball State by a score of 3-0 (25-13, 25-8, 25-21) as well.


Against UWGB, Centenary (0-4) struggled offensively, hitting for a .000 percentage on 20 kills and 20 errors. Meanwhile, Green Bay pounded down 43 kills to just six errors in hitting at a .407 clip for the match.


Brianna Kern and Jenny Kunze each had five kills to lead the Ladies. Jaclyn Lopez tallied 12 assists in the loss, while Bethany Kern led the team with 11 digs.


Centenary’s offense continued to sputter in the finale against Ball State, hitting for a negative percentage (-0.53). Ball State recorded eight blocks in the match and tallied 39 kills on 11 errors on offense.


Brianna Kern again led Centenary with seven kills, while Christina Golden notched five kills. Lopez dished out 15 assists for the Ladies and Bethany Kern had 14 digs.


The Ladies return to action next weekend when they take part in the Central Arkansas Tournament.
