Another Heartbreaker for the Ladies

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The near misses continue for the Centenary women’s soccer team, as it fell to Texas State, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon. The Ladies’ loss to the Bobcats was their fifth one goal defeat this season.

 

Centenary (1-7) junior goalkeeper Kate Donnelly played outstanding between the posts, making 11 saves. The Seabrook, Texas, native made two stops in the first period, while converting nine in the second 45 minutes.

 

Texas State’s (3-3-1) one goal came at 48:14 when Erica Michaud rolled the ball past Donnelly, who came out of the box to try to stop the offensive attack. 

 

The Ladies had five shots on the day, one of which landed on goal. Leading the offense was freshman Katie Valdez, whose shot on goal came in the first half. Four of the five shots by Centenary also came in the first half.

 

The next action for the Ladies will be on Wednesday when they travel south to Nicholls State for a 4 p.m. start. Centenary will return back to Mayo Field on Friday to host Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m.
