SHREVEPORT – The Centenary women’s soccer team is hoping to change its fortune this week when it plays at Nicholls State on Wednesday and then hosts Louisiana Tech on Friday at 7 p.m.

Against a pair of Southland Conference opponents last weekend, the Ladies dropped two 1-0 contests to Northwestern State and Texas State. Centenary was led by junior Kate Donnelly, who had 15 saves and an 88 save percentage.

This week’s first opponent, Nicholls State had struggled this year, as it has allowed 43 goals and scored just 12 in eight matches. The Colonels are led by Kaity Mattsson and Alicia Gautreau, who have each scored three times.

The Lady Techsters, meanwhile, are 6-2 and have dropped their games to Grambling State and North Texas. Louisiana Tech’s offense is led by Kristen Sevier, who has scored six goals, while Olivia Lukasewich has added four.

Last season the Ladies won big over Nicholls 4-1, as Brittany O’Neal scored twice and Lauren Cheaney and Stefani Robbs also added goals. Against Louisiana Tech, Centenary fell 3-0 in Rustin, but had eight saves from Ali Hilsher.

After this weekend, the Ladies will begin conference play at home against Oakland on Friday, Oct. 3.
