Ladies Struggle at Fred Marx Invitational

MONROE, La. – Centenary senior Jessica Garza shot a two-round total of 156 (78-78) on Monday at the Fred Marx Invitational, which was good for 21st place. As a team, the Ladies finished the afternoon in 11th place after shooting 652 (323-329).

 

As a team, Samford leads the way with a 600, while Portia Abbott (71-74) of Jacksonville State tops the leader board with a one over par.

 

Junior Jessica Marquart sits six strokes behind Garza after shooting a first day total of 162 (78-84). Following Marquart is Leigh Newton (87-82, 169) and Tracy Williams (85-85, 170), who are in 53rd and 56th place respectively. Rounding out Centenary’s contingency is Bethany Cox, who is also in 56th place after shooting an 82 in the morning and an 88 during afternoon play.

 

The Ladies will complete their first tournament of the year on Tuesday morning, and will be back in action on Monday, Oct. 6, at the ORU Shootout.
