SHREVEPORT – An offensive explosion for the Centenary volleyball team helped the Ladies to a four set victory over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday afternoon in nonconference action (25-21, 25-10, 23-25, 25-15).

As a team Centenary had 46 kills, as freshman Jennifer Kunze had a match-high 15, while classmate Kinsey Mims added 12. For the Devilettes, Maura Moed had a 14 kills to lead her team and Emily Johnson tacked on eight.

Centenary in the first set held the Devilettes to a zero attacking percentage, as the Ladies forced MVSU into seven errors. The second set was crisp offensive output for Centenary, as it had a .381 attack percentage with 10 kills and only two errors.

The Ladies were looking for sweep in the third set, but six service errors and one reception error prevented that from happening. However, Centenary was back on its game in the fourth set with 16 kills, three service aces and two blocks.

After the bye weekend in conference play, Centenary will welcome Summit League foes Oakland and Oral Roberts to the fitness center on Friday, Oct. 10 and Sunday, Oct. 12.
