SHREVEPORT – It was a tough Tuesday night for the Centenary volleyball team in the battle of I-20, as the Ladies fell in four sets to regional rival Louisiana Tech (24-26, 14-25, 29-27, 25-20).

In the first set, La. Tech grabbed a four point lead midway through, but Centenary found its rhythm and was able to go up by two (21-19) late on a 9-3 run. However, with the Ladies looked to close out the set, but La. Tech rattled off three straight points to win.

Centenary looked like it shook off the hard luck first game loss, as it took an early three point lead. But a 12-1 run by the Lady Techsters put the set away, as Centenary was aced twice during that time.

Trying to avoid the sweep, the Ladies went back and fourth with La. Tech in the third set. The Lady Techsters went up by three (24-21), but an attack error by Lindsay Armstrong swung the momentum back to Centenary, as it went on a 4-0 run to help get the win.

The Ladies again found themselves down halfway through the fourth set and a 6-0 run got them within striking distance. However, after a service error by Centenary turned things back around for La. Tech, as it pulled out the win.

Offensively, freshmen Jaclyn Lopez, Brianna Kern and Jennifer Kunze all had double-doubles to help pace the Ladies scoring. Lopez had a match-high 43 assists and had 10 digs, while Kern put down a career-best 19 kills, while adding 10 digs. Kunze, meanwhile, had her third career double-double with 14 kills and 18 digs.

Centenary will look to get back to its winning ways on Friday and Saturday when it travels to South Dakota State and North Dakota State for Summit League play.
