Newton Leads Ladies after Second Round

SHREVEPORT – Four of the five Centenary women’s golf team members cut strokes off of their score in the second round at the Lady Red Wolf Classic on Monday. The biggest drop for the Ladies was senior Tracy Williams (90-78, 168), who dropped 12 strokes of off her first round score.

 

As a team, Centenary (345-322) shot a two-round 667 and is 56 strokes behind Drake (306-305), who shot a first day 611. Senior Leigh Newton (83-80) tops the Ladies with a 163, and is 17 strokes behind first place Nicole Forshner (74-72, 146) of Central Arkansas.

 

Senior Jessica Garza (86-79) is tied for 43rd after shooting a two-round total of 165, while junior Jessica Marquart (86-85) shot a 171. Rounding out Centenary’s five golfers is senior Bethany Cox (90-91), who is in 70th place after shooting a 181.

 

The final round of the Lady Red Wolf Classic started Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
