Gents Pull out Another Win

CONWAY, Ark. – Saturday was another full day of action for the Centenary men’s swimming team, as it competed with nine other schools at the 46th annual Hendrix College Relays.

 

The first event of the meet saw the Gents post a season-best time of 3:32.61 in the 400-yard medley relay, as they beat Henderson State by a little more than three seconds. The 200-yard freestyle team saw another group of Gents post a season-best time of 1:26.32 for a first place victory over HSU by a .10 of a second.

 

The third event of the day was the 300-yard backstroke relay with freshman Anthony Leblanc leading off in a season-best time (56.18) and another tight race for first place with UT-Permian Basin a close second.

 

The 800-yard freestyle relay was a different story for the Gents, as they were bested by HSU.
However, it was a close race until the final 100 yards with junior Wlad Montoya being out-touched.

 

In the 1500-yard freestyle relay, freshman Anthony Leblanc led off with a season-best for him-self (5:02.19), followed by sophomore Josh Pena and junior Quinn Larwood anchoring the relay to a hard fought finish.

 

The 300-yard medley saw the Gents back in the spotlight with another close race with UTPB. Sophomore John Cefalu led off; junior Clay Malinovsky swam the second leg and anchor senior Bryan Myers came from behind in the last 50 yards to out-touch UTPB Brian Schroeder.

 

One of the Gents stronger relays was the 300-yard butterfly, freshman Peter Henry led off with a 53.48 season best, juniors Rustin Green and Montoya brought home the victory over Colorado College by over a second.

 

What was a continuing fashion for the Gents was winning in the 200-yard medley relay in a season-best time also 1:36.60. In the final event of the night, the 400-yard freestyle relay team gave the Gents win over a strong HSU team.
