Ladies Suffer First Loss of Season

RUSTON, La.-With undefeated records heading into Friday night's match, the Centenary women's soccer fell 7-1 to in-state rival, Louisiana Tech.

Centenary (5-1-0) battled a strong offensive Lady Techster team, but couldn't overcome an early deficit.

Louisiana Tech broke open the game at the 7:25 mark on an unassisted shot by Lindsay  Brough. Less than two minutes later, Olivia Lukasewich made it a 2-0 game. The Lady Techsters managed to net two more shots in the first half by Mo Rockwell and Mal Feece to send the Ladies down 4-0 heading into the final 45 minutes of play.

Centenary was only able to put up one shot in the first half, while Louisiana Tech had 17.

With a minute and 19 seconds into the second frame, Lukasewich netted her second goal of the night from seven yards out. The game remained silent for nearly 20 minutes until Louisiana Tech increased its lead to 7-0 on goals by Brooke Lanie and Chelsea White.

The Ladies finally saw action when freshman Morgan Ulliman found the back of the net on a header shot off a corner kick by sophomore Katie Valdez to make it a 7-1 game. The goal marked the third for Ulliman in her short collegiate career.

As a team, Centenary put up seven shots, led by Ulliman with two shots on goal. Louisiana Tech tallied 29 shots.

In goal all 90 minutes for Centenary was sophomore Deb Hill, who racked up 11 saves, while Lady Techster keeper Cat Buchanan had four.

Centenary will be back in action when it hosts Texas State on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mayo Field.
