Ladies and Gents Fall at Alabama Swim Meet

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.-The Centenary swimming teams competed at a high level at the University of Alabama's Swimming Meet on Saturday.

The Gents faced the Crimson Tide and fell 196-99, while the Ladies were bested by Alabama (201-78) and Vanderbilt (177-82).

Relay team (1:37.30) of Peter Henry, Josh Pena, Devin Ross, and Thomas Schwertz took home a third place finish in the Men's 200 Yard Medley Relay, while several individuals performed well.

Henry placed third in the Men's 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 54.55, while Pena (1:49.10) took third in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle. Also performing well as individuals were Devin Ross (52.08), Rustin Green (54.84), and Tyler Bassett (55.65) who each finished as the top three in the Men's 100 Yard Butterfly.

Josh Grey (4:24.58), Adam Pennington (4:29.89) and Matt Harris (4:30.29) placed first through third in the Men's 400 Yard IM.

On the women's side, Jessica Brown (1:00.03) was the top finisher in the Women's 100 Yard Butterfly, while Laura Huning rounded out the top three with a time of 1:00.07. Maggie Vaughan (5:24.27) placed third in the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle and Lauren Kloepfer (4:54.01) finished in second in the Women's 400 Yard IM.

The Ladies and Gents hit the pool again on Oct. 24 when they travel to Austin College.
