Gymnastics Edged at TWU

DENTON, Texas-The Centenary gymnastics team went head-to-head against Texas Woman's University for the second weekend in a row, falling 192.925 to 188.025 in Kitty Magnee Arena on Saturday evening.

The Ladies finished the night with an event-best 47.825 on the Floor, led by senior Whitney Daugherty with a score of 9.750 for a third place finish behind Pioneers' Kristin Edwards (9.850) and Rashonda Cannie (9.825) who tied for first.

Centenary junior Maille Vetros finished in third on the Beam with a 9.375 as a three-way tie for first resulted as Edwards, Cannie and Alexa Brennan tallied a 9.650.

Junior Makensie Lant scored a 9.625 on the Bars, but narrowly missed placing in the top three. Cannie took top honors with a high-score of 9.775. Freshman Christine Martinez was Centenary's top performer on Vault with a 9.500 score, while Edwards was the top medalist after producing a 9.725.

Centenary All-Arounders were junior Marisa Schneider, who finished in second with a 37.775 behind Cannie with a 38.925 for first. Also competing as an all-arounder was freshman Jessica Lieblich with a score of 35.925.

The Ladies will return to action on Friday, February 5 when they host Southeast Missouri at 7:00 pm in the Gold Dome.
