Swimmers Perform Well in Last Regular Season Meet

SHREVEPORT-Competing in its only home meet all season, the Centenary swimming teams showed well against TCU despite falling 231.5 to 159.50 on Saturday afternoon in Haynes Fitness Center.

The Ladies earned a score of 76, while TCU women finished with a 118. The Gents earned 83.5 points to TCU's 113.5

Individually, the Ladies placed in the top three in nine events as Maggie Vaughan earned first place honors in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:13.35. She was followed by teammate Lauren Kloepfer in second (5:22.14).

Also earning top honors was Allison Jones (26.04) in the 50 yard free style in front of Jessica Brown (26.34) and Kendra Norman (26.80) in second and third. Brown earned two more second place finishes in the 100 yard butterfly (59.90) and as part of the 200 yard Medley Relay team (1:50.73) with Madi Wyatt, Leslie Wyatt, and Laura Huning.

Relay team of Lauren Lassister, Jones, Hayley Schneider and Cassie Cloutet took second with a 1:53.17. Huning placed second in the 100 yard freestyle (54.90), topping M. Wyatt (55.54) in the same event.

Also placing second for the Ladies was Lassister in the 100 yard backstroke (1:01.33) and the 400 yard freestyle relay team of Huning, Schneider, Kloepfer and M. Wyatt (3:40.51). L. Wyatt was Centenary's top performer in the 100 yard breastroke (1:10.33), while Kloepfer finished third in the 200 yard freestyle (1:58.37).

On the men's side, the Gents took top three honors in nine events as Thomas Schwertz, tied for first in the 50 yard freestyle (21.83) and joined Anthony LeBlanc, Devin Ross, and Caleb McSorley, who placed first in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:25.04). Also receiving first place was Josh Scott in the 200 yard freestyle (1:47.81) and Devin Ross (47.23) in the 100 yard freestyle.

Peter Henry was apart of three second place finishes as he earned second-best in the 100 yard butterfly (51.72) and was a member of both relay teams joining Clay Malinovsky, Ross, and McSorley in the 200 yard Medley Relay (1:35.91) and LeBlanc, Scott, and McSorley in the 400 yard freestyle (3:13.15).

Ross Olivier was also an individual top-three finisher with a second-place honor in the 100 yard backstroke (53.30), while Malinovsky (1:01.82) and McSorley (21.91) placed third in the 100 yard breaststroke and the 50 yard freestyle respectively.

Centenary will be back in action when it travels to The Summit League Championship on February 18-20 in Indianapolis, Ind.
