PREVIEW: Ladies Continue Road Tour

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary softball team will continue its road tour as it heads to the Red & Blue Classic hosted by Ole Miss this weekend, beginning on Friday. The Ladies will play five games over the next three games.

Joining Centenary in the tournament field are Ole Miss, SIU-Edwardsville, and first-year program, Murray State.

The Ladies will open up with the host-Rebels on Friday at 10:00 am and will then play SIU-Edwardsville directly after at Noon. On Saturday, Centenary will meet Murray State at 10:00 am and will then either play at 2:00 pm or 4:00 pm depending on the seed. The tournament will wrap up on Sunday with a game at either 10:00 am or Noon.

Centenary is coming off a 10-1 win over Grambling in five innings on Wednesday. With that win, the Ladies improved to 2-3 on the season. Through five games, senior Haley Bassett leads the way offensively with a .462 clip and a team-best .538 slugging percentage. Junior Sara Dornelas is batting .333 with a team-high two doubles, while freshman Rachel Conard is also hitting a solid .333 with three RBI.

On the mound, Dornelas (4.42 ERA, 2-2, 12.2 IP), junior Courtney Avery (7.00 ERA, 0-0, 1.0 IP), sophomore Regina Salvatore (8.40 ERA, 0-1, 8.1 IP) and junior Lauren Highsmith (14.00 ERA, 0-0, 5.0 IP) have combined to toss all five games this season.

Centenary has only met Ole Miss and SIU-Edwardsville once in history as the Ladies defeated SIUE last season in their season opener, 4-2, at the Centenary Softball Complex.

Following the weekend's games, Centenary will play its home opener against Grambling on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
