Gents Play Strong Third Round, Finish in 12th

CHOUDRANT, La.-The Centenary men's golf team managed to cut 14 strokes off their first round to finish in 12th place with a three-round score of 946 at the Louisiana Tech Bulldog Classic on Tuesday afternoon.

The Gents (322-316-308, 946) got solid play from junior Greg Berthelot (83-76-73) who finished as Centenary's top performer in a tie for 37th with a total score of 232 after trimming three shots to wrap up the tournament with a third-round, one over, 73.

Sophomore Denver Green (80-79-79) finished in a tie for 61st with a 238, while junior Cannon Earp (85-79-75) was one shot behind with a 239 in a tie for 65th.

Senior Mark Weeber (79-82-81) tied for 70th with a 242, while junior Ryan Sparks (80-84-88) rounded out the Centenary golfers with a 252 in 82nd place.

Southeastern Louisiana (296-292-292) fired off an 880 as a team to capture first place, jumping ahead of Ole Miss (291-291-299) by one shot with an 881 for second place. Louisiana Tech (302-298-300) took third with a three-round total of 900.

Leading the tournament was Southeastern's Cedric Scotto (73-68-71) with a -4 under 212 for the competition.

Centenary men's golf will return to play on March 29-30 when it hosts the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate at Stonebridge Golf Club in Bossier City, La.
