PREVIEW: Ladies To Play SFA on Wednesday

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary softball team will host Stephen F. Austin State University on Wednesday at 5:30 pm in non-conference action.

The Ladies (8-14, 2-4 Summit) are coming off of four losses last week after being swept in Summit League play by defending champions, North Dakota State.

Centenary is led offensively by junior Sara Dornelas with a .351 clip and 20 hits, while senior Haley Bassett follows with a .323 mark and a team-best seven doubles and nine walks.

On the mound, Dornelas owns a team-low 3.85 ERA and a 7-9 record through 83.2 innings pitched. Junior Lauren Highsmith follows with a 5.68 ERA and a 1-1 record through 24.2 innings of work.

SFA meets Centenary with a 13-8 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the Southland Conference. Briana Bishop paces the Ladyjacks with a .361 average and a team-high 22 hits, five home runs and 15 RBI. Amber Price is also above the .300 mark at .304.

Lefty Monika Covington has thrown the majority of the time for SFA with 75.2 innings pitched. She owns a 2.41 ERA and a 5-5 record, while Angela White has a 3.68 ERA and a 7-3 record with a 51.1 innings under her belt.

The Ladies and Ladyjacks will meet for the 63rd time in history on Wednesday as SFA owns the all-time series, 41-21. The last time these two teams met was in a Ladies loss (6-0) last season on April 8 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Following Wednesday's mid-week contest, Centenary will travel to IPFW for a three-game league series beginning on Friday at 2:00 pm CT.
