Ladies Gym Talk: Whitney and Courtney
Monday, April 19, 2010

Hello fans, this is your Seniors Courtney and Whitney!!! This past week has been filled with tons of fun, memories, and hard work!  We started off the week with the seniors last official day of morning sprints and morning lifting.  Wow, we cannot believe how much improvement we have made over this year!  To commemorate these historic days, we decided to take a picture at each conditioning practice to remember all the good times we have had over this year!!!

On Tuesday, the team wore bright colored shirts with exclamation marks on them, symbolizing the team's confidence and positivity going into nationals.  We wore our exclamations all day long and even took a rainbow exclamation mark picture at practice!  It was so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!  Exclamation day at practice also brought a close to our (the seniors) final official practice of our collegiate career.

On Wednesday, the five individual qualifiers, Whitney, Makensie, Marisa, Jessica, and Amanda, left for USAG Nationals in Denton, TX.  At Nationals the Ladies enjoyed eating at the banquet with the other teams and listening to guest speaker Jaycie Phelps followed by an awesome practice day!  On the first day of competition all of us had so much fun!  All the individual event qualifiers competed in the first session and Marisa the all around qualifier was in the second session.   Almost the entire team came to support the qualifiers for both sessions and showed their true Lady spirit.

Centenary definitely had the loudest cheering section in the stands...and we LOVED it!!  Ending the first day of nationals we had two individuals, Whitney (floor) and Amanda (vault), qualify onto event finals on Saturday!!!  Marisa also had a fantastic performance obtaining her highest score of the year and placing her 4th in the all-around!  What an accomplishment!!  Friday was an off day so we enjoyed some family time in downtown Dallas and the Dallas Zoo before going to watch the team finals!  Event finals went just as well as we anticipated!  Whitney rocked out her final floor routine of her career and Amanda had a sky-high vault which captured the 5th place spot!

Being at Nationals motivated the team to come back and work extra hard to prepare for next year!  As seniors, we can't wait to see what the team has in store for next year!  Concluding our final gym talk, we would like to say thank you to all of you who have guided us through these AMAZING four years of our lives.  We could not have done it without all of your support!
