Swimming Lands Eight for 2010-11 Season

SHREVEPORT-Centenary College and head swimming coach Butch Jordan are proud to announce that eight new faces have accepted the institution's offer of admission and will be representing the Ladies and Gents next season in the pool.

Austin Butler, Steffani Butler, Catriona Coppler, Michelle Gaubert, Ashley Giffen, Cole Lansden, Rachel Olsen and Mike Sullivan will wear maroon and white and be a part of a very successful Centenary swimming program.

Austin Butler
Baton Rouge, La. (Episcopal)
Sprint Free/IM

Head Coach Butch Jordan on Austin Butler: Austin will add more depth to the most competitive sprint group in Centenary swimming's short history. We are really excited to add him to the mix and expect him to make his presence known immediately. Austin has potential in other events as well and we will move him around during the season.

Steffani Butler
Huntsville, Ala. (Bob Jones HS)
Club: Madison Swim Association, coached by Pam Vonjouanne
Awards: HS State Championship Finalist (100 Fly, 200/400 Free Relay (2008))
Major: Biology/Biology Sciences

Head Coach Butch Jordan on Steffani Butler: Steffani will add depth to our Ladies side in the Fly and Sprint events. We are glad to have our first recruit from the Alabama area.

Catriona Coppler
Enfield, CT (Enrico HS)
Sprint Free/Back/Fly
Awards: School record holder in 50 Free and 100 Free, National Qualifier, YMCA National Long Course Finalist, Received coaches award at Enrico HS
Major: Business

Head Coach Butch Jordan on Catriona Coppler: Cat will have an immediate impact on our Ladies program. She will fill several holes in our lineup and we expect her to sure up our Sprint relays both in our dual meet season and at conference.

Michelle Gaubert
Houma, La. (Ed White HS)
Club: Bayou Barracuda, coached by Frank Sheppard
Awards: Louisiana DIII HS State Champion (50/100 Free (2009))

Head Coach Butch Jordan on Michelle Gaubert: Michelle is going to bring more depth to the Ladies Sprint team as well as challenge the current Top 10 times in the Fly events.

Ashley Giffen
Houston, Texas (Houston Christian)

Head Coach Butch Jordan on Ashley Giffen: We really worked hard on getting Ashley here next year and we are very excited that it worked out for her and Centenary. We believe there is great potential in the Backstroke and we feel like she will continue to get better in the Freestyle while in College.

Cole Lansden
Little Rock, Ark. (Catholic HS)

Club: Little Rock Dolphins, coached by Matt Adams
Awards: Helped HS team to a second-place finish at Arkansas HS Championships

Head Coach Butch Jordan on Cole Lansden: Cole is a quality young man that will fit in great with our squad. We expect to use Cole in several events over the course of the season and are excited to have him as a Gent.

Rachel Olson
Houston, Texas (Langham Creek HS)
Club: Fleet, coached by Clayton Cagle

Head Coach Butch Jordan on Rachel Olson: We are very excited for Rachel to have chosen Centenary. She will score at the conference championships her first year and will help fill the void of 2010 grad, Jessica Brown in the Fly and on the relays.

Mike Sullivan
Kingwood, Texas (Kingwood Park HS)

Head Coach Butch Jordan on Mike Sullivan: We are very pleased to have Mike as a new Gent. He brings a great attitude and excitement that we believe will be contagious. We feel there is much untapped potential just waiting to come out.

These eight will join a very solid Ladies and Gents program as the men took second last season in The Summit League Championships and the women took fourth.
