SHREVEPORT-The Centenary softball team could not find a way to plate runs as the Ladies were shut out in two games by the Jackrabbits of conference opponent South Dakota State, falling 2-0 and 7-0 in the first two games of a three game home series.

The Ladies tallied seven hits in Game 1, coming off the bats of juniors Leah Dark (2x3) and Reggie Salvatore (1x2), sophomore Kelsey Regan (1x2), senior Bonne Matak (1x4), and freshman Nicole Warren (1x4).

Centenary's best chance at plating a run came in the bottom of the fourth inning when Salvatore singled to short stop followed by Dark's single to center field and sophomore Jenny King's single down the left field line.

A third strike swinging would leave three left on base in the inning, scoring no runs.

Senior Lauren Highsmith (7.0, 8, 2, 2, 2, 2,) suffered the loss, falling to 2-9 on the season. The starter allowed two runs on eight hits and two walks in Game 1, while striking out two.

Freshman Lynsi Unruh (4.2, 7, 1, 1, 2, 1) stepped in as relief, however could not keep the Jackrabbits off the ball, allowing seven hits and walking two. The freshman allowed just one run however while striking out one as well.
