Wednesday, March 23, 2011
MONROE, La.-The Centenary softball team found it difficult to answer ULM as it dropped Tuesday's contest, 8-0, in five innings.

The Ladies fell to 2-16 on the season with the loss as the contest was the first of five games this week.

Centenary struggled offensively, tallying just two hits on the afternoon to ULM's nine.

Sophomores Kelsey Regan (1x2) and Bailey Boggs (1x2) each recorded a hit for the Ladies as Regan's was a double.

Senior Lauren Highsmith (3.0,8,6,4,1,1) (2-11) took the loss as the starter after tossing the first three frames. The righty allowed six runs, four of which were earned after two defensive errors on eight hits and one walk, while fanning one.

Freshman Lynsi Unruh (1.0,1,2,2,1,0) pitched the fourth inning, giving up two runs on one hit and one walk.

It was a solid game through the first two innings, standing an even 0-0, however, ULM would take control offensively to put up five unanswered runs. The Warhawks tallied five hits, two of which were RBI-doubles.

ULM put the game away with three runs in the latter half of the fourth for an 8-0 mercy-rule win.

Centenary will continue its busy week on Thursday when it hosts Central Arkansas at 5 pm at the Centenary Softball Complex. Live stats will be available at www.GoCentenary.com.
