Ladies in Fifth After Opening Day of Hal Sutton Intercollegiate

BOSSIER CITY, La.-The Centenary women's golf team trimmed 30 strokes off its opening round to conclude Day 1 of the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate in fifth place out of six teams. The Ladies fired a two-round total of 682 at the Golf Club at StoneBridge on Monday.

The Ladies opened the morning round with a team total of 356, but bounced back in their second round to tie for second-best on the day. Centenary was led by sophomore Rachel Grinnell's 165 total after she fired the Ladies' only round in the 70s with a 77 in the afternoon 18 holes. Grinnell is tied for 10th overall.

Sophomore Justine Kemp's 80 in the second round moved her up to 14th in the standings, totaling 168 on the day, while classmate Kyndal Rose (85-85) totaled 170 to sit in 17th place.

Also in action for the Ladies were freshmen Sarah Bradshaw (95-84), who trimmed 11 strokes and is in 23rd place ahead of classmate Kylee Goldthorn (95-100, 195; 27th).

Sam Houston State (306-303) leads the way and is 31 strokes ahead of Stephen F. Austin (314-326) in second, while Tyler Junior College (341-329, 670) is in third.

Individually, Landa Stewert (74-75) of Sam Houston State is in first with a two-round total of 149.

The Hal Sutton Intercollegiate will resume play on Tuesday with its final round of 18 holes. Shotgun start is set for 8:30 am.
