PREVIEW: Ladies to Face Oakland on Road

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary softball team will continue Summit League play when it travels to take on Oakland this weekend. Game times are set for a double-header on Friday at 2 pm CT and Saturday at 11 am CT.

The Ladies (2-20, 1-8 Summit) are looking to snap an eight-game skid, which included recently being swept by Summit League foes, South Dakota State and Southern Utah, both at home.

Centenary is led at the plate by senior Bonnie Matak's .295 average. Matak has a team-best 13 hits, seven runs and five doubles. Following Matak is juniors Leah Dark (.273) and Reggie Salvatore (.267).

Despite not recording a win thus far, freshman Lynsi Unruh leads Centenary with a team-low 6.80 ERA. Unruh is 0-4 in 16 game appearances. Senior Lauren Highsmith has recorded a 2-15 record and a 10.50 ERA in 19 game starts. Highsmith has tossed 72.0 innings and recorded 41 strikeouts.

Oakland is 5-15 overall and 1-5 against Summit League opponents. The Golden Grizzlies have dropped their last nine of 10 games. This Summit League series will mark the first home games for Oakland this season.

Erin Galloway is hitting .359 with 23 hits and 12 RBI to pace Oakland at the plate. She is followed by Kelsey Krych's .343 average and team-best 24 hits.

Marisa Everitt is 2-3 with a team-low 3.54 ERA in five starts, while Brittany Doyle is 2-4 with a 3.74 ERA with a team-best 12 appearances.

Centenary will travel to LSU-Alexandria on Wednesday, April 6 for a single game beginning at 4 pm.
