PREVIEW: Golf Heads to LeTourneau's Spring Classic

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's and women's golf teams will prepare conclude the 2011 regular season at LeTourneau's Spring Classic on Monday and Tuesday before heading to The Summit League Championship later this month.

The LeTourneau Spring Classic will consist of two rounds, one on Monday and one on Tuesday at Pinecrest Country Club in Longview, Texas.

The Gents are coming off a 12th place finish and a 990 team score at LSU's National Invitational. In that tournament, Greg Berthelot (79-70-79) fired a three-round score of 228 to tie for 21st overall to lead Centenary.

On the season, Berthelot currently ranks sixth in Summit League standings with a 74.00 stroke average through 19 rounds.

Looking to represent the Gents on Monday and Tuesday will be Berthelot, seniors Ryan Sparks and Cannon Earp, sophomore Jay Frazier and junior Kyle Mehnert.

The Ladies took a week off after finishing third in Centenary's Hal Sutton Intercollegiate. In that tournament, Centenary fired a season-best team score of 1000 through three rounds, led by sophomores Rachel Grinnell (88-77-79) and Kyndal Rose (85-85-75).

Rose paces the squad on the season with an 81.5 stroke average, ranking her 28th in Summit League standings.

Rose, Grinnell will join sophomore Justine Kemp and freshmen Sarah Bradshaw and Kylee Goldthorn for the upcoming tournament.

Following the tournament, Centenary will prepare for The Summit League Championship on April 18-19 at Primm Valley Golf Club in Primm, Nevada.
