SHREVEPORT-The Centenary softball team will play its final home series of the 2011 season this weekend when it hosts IPFW at the Centenary Softball Complex. The Ladies are set for a double-header on Friday, beginning at 4 pm, followed by a single game at Noon on Saturday.

The Ladies are 4-26 overall and 2-13 in league play heading into the weekend series. Centenary is looking to snap a four-game skid.

Centenary is coming off a tough weekend series with UMKC as the Ladies fell in all three games at home. Senior Bonnie Matak paces the offense with a team-leading .313 average, 20 hits, six doubles and three home runs. Performing well off the bench of late has been freshman Chandelle Scott with a .250 average. Junior Kalyn Harris is third-best on the team with a .225 average and leads the team with 13 RBI.

On the mound, freshman Lynsi Unruh (6.12, 2-6) and senior Lauren Highsmith (10.76, 2-19, 1 SV) each have two wins this season. Highsmith paces the duo with 24 game starts and 92.0 innings pitched.

Seniors Lauren Highsmith and Bonnie Matak will be honored pregame on Saturday.

IPFW was selected as the Summit League Preseason favorite and enters the weekend with a 20-10-1 record and a 10-5 mark in league play. The Mastodons have won their last 10 of 12 games, including 2-of-3 from Western Illinois last weekend.

IPFW is led at the plate by Sarah Swanson with a .380 average. Ashley Bousquet follows with a .351 clip. On the mound, All-Region performer a year ago, Courtney Cronin is 13-7 with a team-low ERA of 2.05 through 20 game starts.

Centenary and IPFW will meet for the 10th time as the Mastodons own a 6-3 mark over the Ladies. The two met in a three-game series a year ago in Fort Wayne, Ind. as the Mastodons defeated the Ladies in all three.

Centenary will travel to Central Arkansas for a mid-week contest on Wednesday, April 20 at 6 pm.
