Gents Golf Sits in 10th After Opening Day at League Championships

PRIMM, Nevada-The Centenary men's golf team trimmed 17 strokes off its opening round score to sit in 10th place at The Summit League Championships with a two-round total of 647 on Monday at Primm Valley Golf Club.

The Gents fired rounds of 332 and 315 on the opening day, but sit 71 strokes over par and 64 shots behind current leader, UMKC.

Centenary was led by First Team All-Leaguer Greg Berthelot with rounds of 77 and 74 for a 36-hole total of 151 to sit in a tie for 22nd overall. With his 7-over par opening day total, the senior is 12 shots out of the lead heading into the final round on Tuesday.

Senior Ryan Sparks is tied for 41st after shooting rounds of 84 and 77, 17 shots over par, totaling 161. Other Gents in action were senior Cannon Earp (85-79, 164 - T-46), sophomore Jay Frazier (86-85, 171 - 48th), and junior Kyle Mehnert (107-90, 197 - 49th).

UMKC (303-280) sits in first with a team total of 583 for a 7-over par two-rounds. Following the Kangaroos are IUPUI (297-292, 589) in second and Southern Utah (296-295, 591) in third.

UMKC's Will Robson (72-67) leads the pack with a two-round 139, for 5-under par.

Centenary will wrap up the Championships on Tuesday with one round beginning at 10 am CT.
