PREVIEW: Ladies Gear Up for Final Weekend

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary softball team will play its final games of the 2011 season when it travels to Fargo, ND to take on Summit League foe, North Dakota State, Friday and Saturday.

Friday will consist of a double-header beginning at 3 pm, followed by a single game on Saturday at Noon. Live stats will be available at www.gobison.com.

Centenary will wrap up its affiliation with The Summit League this weekend as it will transition to NCAA Division III and The American Southwest Conference next season. The Ladies currently hold a record of 5-33 and 2-19 against league opponents.

Senior Bonnie Matak leads the offense with a .337 clip, a team-best 29 hits, eight doubles, 16 RBI and five home runs. She is followed by sophomores Jenny King and Kelsey Regan with .230 and .222 averages, respectively.
As a team, Centenary is hitting .207, compared to its opponents' .359 clip.

On the mound, senior Lauren Highmsith is 3-24 with 30 game starts and an ERA of 11.20. Freshman Lynsi Unruh is 2-7 with six game starts and an ERA of 6.39.

NDSU is 24-25 overall and 14-7 in Summit League play heading into the final weekend of the regular season. The Bison are led by Nicole Rivera with a .351 clip, while Taylor Mortensen is hitting .304 with nine home runs and 31 RBI.
On the mound, Whitney Johnson is 17-11 and holds a team-low 2.59 ERA with 18 complete games.

Centenary and NDSU will meet for the 11th time in history. The Bison hold a 9-1 mark over the Ladies since they first met. Last season, NDSU swept Centenary in the three-game set in Shreveport.
