Golf's Berthelot Adds Second Team All-LSWA Honor to Career Accolades List

LAKE CHARLES, La.-Gents' golfer Greg Berthelot added yet another accolade to his career list after being honored as a Second Team All-LSWA selection, announced Saturday.

Berthelot, a native of Baton Rouge, La compiled an impressive career as a four-year member of the Gents golf team.

The senior ranked eighth in Summit League standings with a team-low 74.04 stroke average through 25 rounds this season. The highlight of the year came when he captured first place in Centenary's Hal Sutton Intercollegiate after firing a final round of 67 to finish 3-under par for the tournament.

Berthelot had four Top 5 finishes this season. To open the season, Berthelot fired a 5-under par 139 over two rounds with scores of 70 and 69 at Delta State's Invitational to finish in a tie for fourth place. He then wrapped up the regular season at LeTourneau's Spring Classic with a third-place finish and a final round of 72. Berthelot tied for 17th at The Summit League Championships, firing a final round of 71 to finish 6-over par for the three-round event.

Nominated and voted on by the sports information directors across the state of Louisiana, Berthelot was one of 10 golfers selected to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) post-season teams.

Joining him on the Second Team were Cedric Scotto (SELA), Ken Looper (LSU), Andrew Noto (ULL) and Clinton Shepard (La Tech). Representing the First Team were Andrew Loupe (LSU), John Peterson (LSU), Phillip Westerman (SELA), Gustaf Kocken (ULM), and Philipp Fendt (ULL).

LSU's John Peterson was named LSWA Men's Golfer of the Year.
