Swimming Ready for 2010-11, Releases Schedule
Thursday, July 8, 2010

SHREVEPORT-With another successful season under its belt, the Centenary swimming teams and head coach Butch Jordan have recently released the 2010-11 season schedule which features three home meets.

"This year's schedule will allow us to move some kids around to try different events.  It is always fun to experiment with events that they do not normally swim.  We often find out that they have hidden talents and then sometimes we find out that we never want to see them in a particular event again," said Jordan.

An always impressive and exciting squad to watch, the Ladies and Gents will open their season with the Maroon and White Intrasquad meet on Sept. 25 in the Haynes Fitness Center.

Centenary will host three home meets including an Oct. 23 matchup with Hendrix, Austin College and Arkansas-Little Rock, a Jan. 29 contest against Univ. New Orleans and Ouachita Baptist, and its final regular season-meet against TCU on Feb. 5.

"Having home meets is a great advantage for us because of our loud spectators.  In our small venue our crowd can get really loud and this gives our athletes an extra bit of energy.  We really appreciate the crowds we get at our home meets.  Our small venue makes it hard to host home meets so we always appreciate the teams that come in to swim us," said Jordan.

The Ladies and Gents look forward to the Hendrix two-day meet on Oct. 29-30 which highlights the team's relay events.

"The Hendrix relays are always exciting for us.  Swimming an entire meet made up of relays is really fun," said Jordan.

Despite not facing any league opponent until late in the season, Centenary always competes well at The Summit League Championships. This year's meet is scheduled for Feb. 16-19 in Indianapolis, Ind. on the campus of IUPUI.

"The Summit League Championships in Indy will definitely be the most exciting meet for us.   We always swim fast in Indy. We do not feel that we need to swim against our conference teams to prepare for them at the conference meet. We are fortunate enough to have a good mixture of teams near Centenary than can give us all the competition we need to be ready for conference," said Jordan.
