Thursday, August 26, 2010
SHREVEPORT-The time has come where Centenary soccer laces up their cleats and hits the field for game-like preparation in hopes of a successful season to follow. The Ladies and Gents kick off their respective seasons this weekend with away exhibition matches.

The Ladies will open first with a 6 pm exhibition start on Friday at LeTourneau in Longview, Texas, while the Gents travel to East Texas Baptist in Marshall, Texas for a 7:30 pm Saturday exhibition match.

By facing these opponents, Centenary will get a taste of what the future holds as both LeTourneau and ETBU are members of Centenary's future conference, The American Southwest Conference (ASC).

The Ladies welcome back three seniors in Emily McManus, Catie Depew and Kortney Causey, along with top returning juniors Candace Rushing, Laura Immenschuh, and sophomores Holden Penney and Kelly Fossard. The new squad also features 10 newcomers under new head coach Glenn Evans, a former Ladies' assistant.

A roster that features more returnees from last season than any other team is the Gents soccer squad that will showcase eight seniors in Rennie Walker, Brian Hurlburt, Zac Farrar, Dragan Hinic, Heath Cox, Adam Nerio, Micah Goodwin and Ryan Watson.

With 21 returnees, Centenary also rosters top juniors Marcos Rodriguez, Tate McIntyre, RB Asenime, and Ryan Christianson under head coach David Orr, now about to begin his third season at the helm of the Gents program.

Fans of Centenary soccer, be sure to follow results and recaps online at www.GoCentenary.com, on Twitter (CCLadiesGents) or on Facebook (Centenary Athletics) all season long.

The Gents will host the first home game of the season next Friday, Sept. 3 at 2 pm against Univ. of the Ozarks on Mayo Field, before the Ladies play host to Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 1 pm on Sunday, Sept. 5.
