Gents Soccer Shows Well in Opening Exhibition

MARSHALL, Texas-The Centenary men's soccer team used a strong offensive game to secure a 1-0 win over East Texas Baptist in its opening exhibition game on Saturday evening in Marshall, Texas.

Gents' senior Heath Cox received a low cross pass from junior Aaron Bergman that found the back of the net from three yards out that proved to be the game winner at the 16th minute.

Centenary fired off 20 shots to the Tigers' seven as Cox led the Gents with eight shots on the evening.

"We were able to possess the ball very well tonight. I am pleased with the scoring opportunities created by us," said head coach David Orr.

Centenary will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at LeTourneau for its second exhibition game of the season slated to begin at 5 pm in Longview, Texas.
