PREVIEW: Volleyball Heads to Southern Utah, UMKC

SHREVEPORT-After playing two competitive Summit League matches, the Centenary volleyball team will continue its quest for its first league win when it travels to Southern Utah and UMKC later this week.

Centenary enters this week's contest with a 3-6 overall record and an 0-2 mark among league opponents, having faced Western Illinois and IUPUI this past weekend.

As a team, the Ladies have compiled 311 kills and average 7.8 a set.

Leading the way offensively is junior Stevie Hurlbirt with 97 kills in 271 total attacks. Sophomore Shelby Singleton follows with 77 kills.

Freshman Bethany Nuttall and junior Caitlin Neese each contribute on the offensive end with 133 and 118 assists, respectively.

Junior Jaclyn Lopez paces Centenary with 14 service aces and a team-leading 100 digs on the defensive end.

Centenary will face Southern Utah who is 2-6 on the season and 1-1 in league play with a win over South Dakota State.

UMKC is 3-8 overall and 0-2 in Summit League action and will face Oral Roberts on Thursday at 7 pm before hosting the Ladies.
