Gents Golf Ties for Sixth in Opening Weekend

CLEVELAND, Miss.-The Centenary men's golf team wrapped up play at the Derrall Foreman Invitational on Saturday hosted by Delta State, finishing with a two-round total of 593 for a sixth place tie. 

The Gents added seven strokes to its opening round total, posting a final round of 300. Senior Greg Berthelot fired a team-low 69 on Saturday, tying for fourth overall with a 36-hole total of 139 after shooting 70 on Friday.

Senior Ryan Sparks (71-75) finished in a tie for 17th with a score of 146, while senior Cannon Earp (75-80) and freshman Brandon Sledge (79-76) each tied for 45th with a 155

Rounding out the scores for Centenary was sophomore Jay Frazier (77-82) who scored 159 over two days for a total of 159.

North Alabama (277-273, 150) captured the team title, while host-Delta State (289-285, 574) finished second and North Alabama's B (282-298, 580) team took third.

UNA's Jake Greer (66-68) won the individual title with a two-round score of 134, 10 shots under par.

Centenary will return to play on Sept. 27-28 at Oral Roberts Invitational at the Golf Club of Oklahoma.
