PREVIEW: Men's Soccer Set to Host UMKC on Saturday

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's soccer team will look for its first win after recording two double-overtime draws in their last times out when they host UMKC on Saturday evening at 7 pm on Mayo Field.

The Gents are 0-4-2 on the season and are 0-0-2 in league play alone. Centenary manages to fire off 11 shots a game and finds the back of the net on average, once a game. Of the six total goals, senior Heath Cox paces the squad with three. Juniors Aaron Bergman, Marcos Rodriguez, and Tate McIntyre each have three points on one goal and one assist.

Senior goal keeper Rennie Walker has played 535 minutes in goal this season and tallied 32 saves for a .744 save percentage. Despite a record of 0-3-2, Walker allows just 1.85 goals per game.

UMKC enters Saturday's contest with a record of 6-3-1 and a 1-0 mark in league play. The Kangaroos are coming off a two-game win streak which included a 4-2 victory over Oral Roberts.

Leading the way offensively for the Kangaroos is Jimmy Simon with 10 points on five goals, while John Bayron Sosa adds eight points on three goals and two assists.

Goal keeper Ken Cooper has played every minute of all 10 contests, making 36 saves for a .783 save percentage.

Centenary and UMKC met last year in Kansas City, Mo as the Kangaroos defeated the Gents, 4-1, as Rodriguez tallied the lone goal for Centenary in the 79th minute.

Following Saturday's contest, Centenary will host Houston Baptist on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 7:05 pm on Mayo Field. This game will also serve as Centenary men's soccer senior night prior to kick off.
