PREVIEW: Golf to Tee Up at Sam Houston State Championship

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's and women's golf team will both take part in the Sam Houston State Harold Funston Golf Championship on Monday and Tuesday hosted by SHSU in Huntsville, Texas.

The Gents will compete on the par-71, 6,943 yard course at Raven Nest Golf Club, while the Ladies take on the par-71, 6,007 yard course at Elkins Lake Golf Club.

Both squads will play 36 holes on Monday, followed by a single round on Tuesday with shotgun start beginning at 8 am both days.

Senior Greg Berthelot, senior Ryan Sparks, sophomore Jay Frazier, senior Cannon Earp, and freshman Brandon Sledge will suit up for the Gents, while sophomore Kyndal Rose, sophomore Justine Kemp, freshman Sarah Bradshaw, sophomore Rachel Grinnell and sophomore Kylee Goldthorn will tee up for the Ladies.

On the men's side, participating teams include: Centenary, Houston-Victoria, Houston Baptist, McNeese State, Nicholls, Northeast Oklahoma State, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma City, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Southern, Texas-Pan American, and Tyler Junior College, while the Univ. of Texas will enter seven individual medalist competitors.

On the women's side, participating teams include: Centenary, Alabama State, Houston-Victoria, Redlands, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Texas-Pan American, and Tyler Junior College.

Results will follow after the conclusion of each day.
