Ladies Golf in Seventh After Two Rounds

HUNTSVILLE, Texas-The Centenary women's golf team opened up play at the Harold Funston SHSU Golf Classic with a two-round score of 691 and is in seventh place after Monday's rounds.

The Ladies (362-329, 691) cut 33 strokes off their first round score to fire a 329 as a team in the second round and is 104 shots behind tournament leader and host Sam Houston State (289-298, 587).

Leading the way for Centenary was sophomore Kyndal Rose (87-78) with a 36-hole score of 165 to put her in a tie for 22nd overall heading into the final round on Tuesday.

Sophomore teammate Rachel Grinnell (89-80, 169) is in 29th place, while sophomore Justine Kemp (91-83) totaled 174 for a 33rd place standing.

Freshman Kylee Goldthorn (90-91, 186) is one stroke better than classmate Sarah Bradshaw (99-88, 187) as they are in 38th and 39th place, respectively.

Behind Sam Houston State in second is the Redlands (305-315) with a score of 620, while Alabama State (324-312) is in third with a two-round total of 636.

Individually, Landa Stewart (70-69, 139) of SHSU has a five-shot lead moving into the last day of competition.

The tournament will wrap up play on Tuesday with one round on the par-71 course with a shotgun start beginning at 8 am.
