PREVIEW: Ladies Soccer Prepares for First League Road Trip

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary women's soccer team is gearing up for its first Summit League road trip this year as the Ladies take on IUPUI on Friday at 7 pm and Western Illinois on Sunday at Noon.

The Ladies (3-9, 0-3 Summit) have dropped their last three contests, all to league opponents, are looking to snap a five game skid with the weekend games.

Centenary has scored 10 goals this season led by senior Kortney Causey with three. Junior Candace Rushing and Causey each have a team-best seven points as Causey has one assist and Rushing has two goals and three assists to her name.

Also finding the back of the net twice this year are sophomore Kelly Fossard and senior Erika Rautio. Defensively, the Ladies are led in the back by seniors Catie Depew, Emily McManus and junior Eren Corapcioglu.

In goal, junior Kalyn Harris has played in all 12 contests, making 63 saves, while allowing 22 goals for a .741 save percentage.

IUPUI enters Friday's contest with a 6-8 record and a 2-2 mark in league play. The Jaguars have dropped their last two games, one of which came in a 2-1 double-overtime fall to North Dakota State.

The Jaguars have tallied 14 goals on the year and their offense is led by Sarah Colby with 11 points on four goals and three assists. Giselle Guzman and Kristin Haseley have split time consistently in goal all season as Guzman has made 20 saves and Haseley 39.

Centenary and IUPUI met once last year as the Jaguars secured a 3-1 win over the Ladies at home.

After Friday's contest, Centenary will meet Western Illinois who plays Oral Roberts prior to Sunday's matchup. The Fighting Leathernecks own a 6-4-4 overall record and a 2-1-1 league mark.

WIU tied South Dakota State in their last contest, 1-1 in double-overtime. The Fighting Leathernecks have matched their opponents in scoring with 14 goals this season, led by Jenny Green with eight points on three goals and two assists.

Laura Atkinson has seen the majority of the time in goal, making 64 saves for an impressive .889 save percentage.

Centenary and WIU tied 1-1 in double-overtime a year ago.

Following the weekend contests, the Ladies will return home to host UMKC on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7 pm and Southern Utah on Sunday, Oct. 24 at Noon.
